Drag & Drop
You can drag supported files into the chat area in Coeus to import them as chat attachments.
How to use it
Drag a file from Finder on macOS or your file manager on Linux and drop it into the main chat area. Coeus currently supports these file types:
- Images: copied into your notes
assets/folder and attached to the current chat - PDFs: copied into
assets/, with extractable text imported for search and AI context - Text files:
.md,.txt,.csv, and.jsonare imported and their text is extracted
Unsupported file types are rejected instead of being copied into assets/.
Linking to a note
Dragging a file into chat does not directly insert it into the note editor.
If you use the file in a chat turn that updates a note, Coeus can link that attachment to the changed note as part of that workflow.
Multiple files
You can drop multiple supported files at once. Coeus imports them one at a time.
Audio and video
Audio and video files are not supported through drag and drop right now.
Use the paperclip button instead. When transcription is configured, Coeus can import the media, transcribe it, and save it as a source note.
From the chat bar
You can also click the paperclip icon in the chat bar to open the file picker.
For images, PDFs, and supported text files, this imports the file and attaches it to your next message.
For audio and video, the paperclip flow is different from drag and drop: it runs the transcription flow and creates a note instead of adding the file as a normal chat attachment.
When a file is attached to a chat message, the AI can use it in that conversation.
