Asking Questions
The chat bar at the bottom of the main window is where you talk to the AI. Type a question, press Enter, and Coeus sends it along with context from your notes.
AI Providers
Coeus doesn't have a built-in AI. You connect it to a provider you already use, or one you sign up for. This means you pick the model, you control the cost, and you can switch at any time.
Free LLM APIs
Looking for a free model or a generous free tier? This page tracks providers from mnfst/awesome-free-llm-apis plus a small number of manually reviewed additions that are good candidates for Coeus's OpenAI-compatible API provider.
Claude Code
The Claude Code provider uses your Claude Code CLI subscription. Claude runs as an agent on your machine: it can read and write files in your notes folder directly.
Anthropic API
The Anthropic API provider connects Coeus directly to Claude using an API key. Good if you want to use Claude without installing the Claude Code CLI.
OpenAI-Compatible API
This provider works with any API that follows OpenAI's chat completions format: which includes OpenAI itself, many local model servers like Ollama, and a lot of third-party model APIs.
Codex
The Codex provider connects Coeus to OpenAI's Codex CLI. Like the Claude Code provider, it runs as an agent on your machine and can read and write files in your notes folder.
ACP Agents
ACP stands for Agent Client Protocol. It's an open standard for AI agents that lets Coeus talk to different agents using the same interface.
Kimi Coding
Kimi Coding is a model from Moonshot AI, available through Coeus as a raw API provider.
